Alirio  Zavarce Performer & Co-creator

Alirio was born in Caracas, Venezuela and migrated to Australia in 1992.  He is a founding member of The Border Project and has co-created and performed in all of the company's work including Medea Material, Please Go Hop!, Highway Rock & Roll Disaster, Trouble on Planet Earth, Disappearance, Vs Macbeth and Escape from Peligro Island. His theatre credits also include work with Brink Productions, The Yashchin Ensemble, Parallelo, State Theatre Company of SA and Sydney Theatre company. 

Fronteras Americanas. For Windmill: Boom Bah, Wizard of Oz and Escape from Peligro Island. His film work includes Look Both Ways, The Marriage of Figaro. Alirio is the Associate Director of No Strings Attached Theatre of Disability and lectures at the Flinders University Drama Centre. In 2001 he won the Adelaide Critics Circle Emerging Artist Award, in 2006 the Helpmann Academy Foundation Front. In 2010 played the role the Narrator in Maria de Buenos Aires with Leigh Warren and SA Opera. And performed "Trapped" directed and  written by himself and Winner of the 2011 Fringe Graham Smith Peace Trust Award

In 2011 he has collaborated and performed in the Development and reading of Blood Wedding at the Malthouse Theatre and will be performing in The Border Project's Half Real in the Melbourne Festival and in Maria de Buenos Aires in the Brisbane Festival . Alirio is also currently writing and developing "The Book of Loco". Training: Flinders Drama Centre, Adelaide.
